About this tool

What time zone does the countdown use?

The target date and time are read in the local time zone of the device that opens the page. If you share a link with someone in another time zone, they will count down to the same clock time in their zone, not the same instant.

How does the share link work?

The link stores the event title, date and time as parameters in the URL, such as ?t=Launch&d=2027-01-01&h=09:00. Nothing is saved on a server; opening the link simply fills in the form.

What happens after the target time has passed?

The display switches to elapsed mode and counts how long it has been since the event, which is useful for anniversaries, streaks or "days since" trackers.

Will the countdown keep running if I close the tab?

The countdown is recalculated from the current time whenever the page is open, so it is always correct when you come back. It does not send notifications or alarms when the time is reached.

Why can the countdown be off by an hour around daylight saving changes?

When clocks change, a local day can be 23 or 25 hours long. The timer counts real elapsed time, so across a daylight saving change the hours may not line up with a simple days × 24 calculation.
